Brad Wolfe, Board President, receiving a commemorative plaque before the January 17th Manitoba Moose game at the MTS Centre.
A Design Committee was formed to assist in the creation of a new updated logo for Macdonald Youth Services. The committee was comprised of representatives from each service area in the organization, middle and senior management representatives, as well as a member of the MYS Board of Directors. Our new logo was announced on January 17th, 2008 at the MTS Centre. The seedling was chosen to represent the mission and values of MYS:
Building Hope - The seedling is a symbol of hope - and hope is central to our work with youth and families. A large part of what MYS employees, foster parents and volunteers do on a daily basis is about building hope in others - we never give up hope.
Assisting with Growth - Seedlings thrive in ideal growing conditions, with optimal soil conditions, sunlight, warmth and rain. However, there are times, even with ideal conditions, a seedling may require some help from a farmer, a forester or a horticulturist. The daily stresses of life and the “normal” conflict between parents and teens often require just a little help from MYS in order to supplement those ideal growing conditions within families.
Surviving the odds - Seedlings are resilient. We serve many youth and families who are struggling to endure despite incredible odds. However, with support, practical assistance and healing offered through MYS, youth and their families survive and frequently thrive.
Diversity - Each seedling is unique within itself, but also is part of the diversity of plant life. Each seedling has purpose, potential and strength. At MYS, our role is to find, nurture and celebrate the unique purpose, potential and strength of each youth and family we serve.
Community Impact - Seedlings, once full-grown, sustain us. That is our goal for the youth we serve - that they will sustain their loved ones and the community in which they live.
