Macdonald Youth Services is proud to announce that we have received funding from the Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth: After School Arts Enrichment Program for Students. This support will be used by our Positive Alternatives for Youth (PAY).
PAY offers two after school art enriching programming. The first is offered weekly at Fort Rouge School to children in the community. This program is run like a drop in and offers sporting activities and arts and crafts activities that are not available to these at-risk children. This program is run by mentors, who are also at-risk youth involved in our Youth Positively Involved in the Community (YPIC) program. This is a leadership program that allows our youth to feel and become valued, proactive members of society and encourages the younger children to make positive choices.
The second after school art programming is held twice a month through the PAY as well. This is a Cultural Program which offers guest lectures and cultural based art projects. This program is very popular and is open to youth in any of the PAY programs (STEP Project, CSSP Project and the YPIC Project). This programming allows our youth to connect with the culture around them as well as practice skills, learn about diversity and express themselves.
On behalf of the Management, Employees and Board of MYS, we would like to thank Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth: After School Arts Enrichment Program for Students for helping us to continue to grow futures for Manitoba youth, families and communities.
